- Opportunity and resources are shared equitably across geographies and for future generations.
Resilient People and Planet
- People thrive within the ecologically safe limits of the planet, ensuring the safeguarding of the environment for current and future generations.
- People and planet persist, adapt and transform in the face of change, able to withstand and recover from difficulties and challenges.
The Sustainable Development Goals: Our Shared Blueprint
the world’s “shared blueprint for the peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future”, are embraced and implemented.
Operationalising the SDGs means we adopt a transformational approach to development which:
- focuses on eradicating extreme poverty for all people everywhere, building equitable and inclusive societies and leaving no-one behind;
- elevates, enhances and values local actors, local action and local knowledge, strengthening local civil society, ensuring the participation of vulnerable and marginalised populations and groups in identifying and acting on development priorities and addressing the impacts of colonisation; and
- actively protects the environment by supporting regenerative practices and embracing a nature positive future
“The 2030 Agenda remains our overarching roadmap for achieving sustainable development and overcoming the multiple crises we face. We will act with urgency to realize its vision as a plan of action for people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership, leaving no one behind. We will endeavour to reach the furthest behind first.” – United Nations 2023 SDG Summit, High Level Political Declaration
